A pleasant walk through the gardens where we will explore the abstract qualities of natural subjects. We will select from what we see and manipulate focus and viewpoint to enhance the patterns, textures, shapes, and colour creating interesting images using the manual settings on our cameras. We will also have the option to visit the glasshouses.
Kelham Photo Walk - Old and New

A leisurely walk around the Kelham Island district of Sheffield which has a rich history alongside modern 'state of the art' living. We will explore how buildings from these two different eras exist side by side in the same area. In this meet up we will aim to capture powerful images that document the changing face of the area through manipulation of composition, viewpoint and juxtaposition.

A leisurely walk from the Arts Tower into Sheffield City Centre stopping at several locations along the way to photograph interesting and Modernist Sheffield buildings. We will learn how using manual settings together with careful consideration of viewpoint and composition can help us create extraordinary images of extraordinary buildings.

Using the plants in the surrounding environment we will be looking to create a set of images which have abstract qualities. We will consider the importance of framing ,composition and focus. . We will explore how the 'formal' elements of light, colour, shape, texture, pattern and line can be manipulated to create intriguing images.
Exploring Depth of Field

In this session we will explore different approaches to using depth of field in our images using the city as our stimulus. We will look at examples from the past to see how photographers have used depth of field and focus to convey ideas. We will look at the relationship between foreground and background and consider how this can be manipulated in our own images.
